About the Founder
Terrence Buchanan is the founder of G.R.I.T. Athletics, a baseball development company built on discipline, resilience, and doing the work when no one is watching. G.R.I.T. stands for the mindset Terrence has lived at every level of the game—growth through preparation, accountability, and relentless effort.
Terrence’s baseball career spans youth, collegiate, professional, and international competition. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the MLB amateur draft and later played professionally in Japan’s Baseball Challenge League as a utility infielder for the Kanazawa Millionstars. Competing overseas provided Terrence with a global perspective on player development, training structure, and mental toughness, including working closely with former MLB All-Star Julio Franco.
At the collegiate level, Terrence was a team captain at Cal State San Marcos, starting on nationally ranked programs and producing one of the most efficient offensive seasons in school history. His 2014 season ranks among the best in program history, including top single-season marks in batting average and stolen base success rate
He also earned multiple academic and athletic honors throughout his college career, reflecting his commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
As a coach, Terrence has led athletes as a Head Varsity Coach, Assistant Varsity Coach, and Travel Baseball Coach, working with players across all stages of development. His experience includes building structured practice plans, implementing safe and effective strength and conditioning programs, and developing competitive team cultures rooted in accountability and trust.
Terrence holds degrees in Human Development and Kinesiology, allowing him to combine performance training with a deep understanding of physical development, movement patterns, and athlete mindset. Through G.R.I.T. Athletics, he works hands-on with athletes who are serious about improvement—helping them build confidence, consistency, and habits that translate beyond the field.
